Why have no US carriers picked up Nokia's flagship N97 phone?

Despite favourable reviews, Nokia has yet to find a U.S. carrier to subsidize its new flagship N97 smartphone. Absent a subsidy, the device will retail for $699 in the U.S. market. Nokia is having better success elsewhere: Vodafone will gain exclusive rights to the new Nokia 6730 Classic in the U.K. this month and Nokia also said that it would significantly increase deployment of touch-screen smartphones in India
