This is a unique game. It's a cross between action rpg, hack and slash, side scrolling beat-em up and at times even a top down shooter. Consider it Devil May Cry meets Monster Hunter meets Geometry Wars meets Strider meets a ton of other games. There is a bit of tedium to parts of the game with missions like "kill 10 sheep". The game takes a bit of time to get going but stick with it - it gets good at the half way mark.
I'm not sure why people kept complaining it was too hard. Big bunch of ... Read More

I bought the game, because Square Enix had its finger on it and because I was playing Final Fantasy 13 just before.
This game is like a medal. It has two sides.
The pro side has pluses like the open play modus. You are not tied to a story modus. Only if you like to progress you have to stick to the main quest. But the game gives many things to explore and a huge bag of side quests as well. The battles are not random and can be avoided most of the times.
The con side ... Read More

I'm a huge fan of JRPGs but this one is about as interesting as watching paint dry. It doesn't really do anything wrong but it doesn't really do anything right either, in fact it really doesn't do much of anything. Dull would be the best way to describe it. It's as if they decided to make a game and then couldn't come up with any ideas. You fight things but it's so easy it's ridiculous, your sent on fetch quests by Lazy NPCs who can't be bothered to do their own shopping. You have a party but they're ... Read More

Oh dear Nier. I had such high hopes for you. Being another RPG from the land of the East I was expecting a superbly strange story with epic graphics and sound coupled with never ending tasks and huge boss battles. And you delivered. But it was a case of one step forward and three back. Your story was a conveluted mess that, come the end, made absolutely no sense about what had happened over the previous 50 odd hours of gameplay leaving me scratching my head and completly bewildered. Your graphics were ... Read More
