This is an ON REQUEST TOUR. We need supplier confirmation in order to process vouchers. Between 1971 and 1998 Belfast City Centre was the setting for many tragic incidents of the sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland, this period is known as 'The Troubles'. This unique walking tour of the city centre visits the actual sites of some of the most significant events. The guides are carefully selected and are the most knowledgeable 'conflict historians' in Northern Ireland. They examine the stories of the people involved, their place in the conflict and the effect these attacks and incidents had on the city and its people. This is not a 'sightseeing tour.' There is no physical reminder of legacy of the incidents involved. Belfast city centre is now an active, vibrant place, far removed from the time when it was secured with a ring of steel and security gates at every entry point. The tour examines the dark past of Belfast through historical accounts and the stories of those involved. Our walking tour allows you to get a real feel for the history of the city - many of our guests say they have felt transported back in time through the rich and detailed story-telling. Although the tour allows you to explore the destructive and cruel side of Belfast's history, it also highlights the reconciliation and regeneration which has taken place. It is engaging, enthralling and hard hitting. The tour is not only enjoyed by tourists visiting Belfast, it has been enjoyed by locals who have lived there their whole life too! For those who visiting Belfast, it is understandable that the sectarian conflict can appear hugely confusing, and you may have many questions, but 'The History of Terror' guides are more than capable of answering all of them.
