Situated in the famously windy region of Martinborough on the southern end of the North Island, Katherine Jacobs and Jeremy Corban run their 6 hectare estate. Jeremy is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with a 100 year winemaking history in New Zealand. Jeremey met Katherine while they were both living in Bordeaux, studying winemaking and working in the vineyards. They were drawn to the Te Muna valley on the high alluvial terrace of Martinboroughs Huangarua river, its deep gravels, low rainfall, warm days and cool nights make it ideal for growing Pinot Noir . They practice certified sustainable viticulture, and are committed to using organic principles. This wine is the fruit of selected vineyard parcels, hand-picked and aged over 22 months in 35% new oak. Why Big Sky? Well, just because it is... those cloudless summer days out here that seem to go on forever, or those clear clear nights that are more silver than black, with the stars nearly close enough to touch".
