Famous for showing that the Languedoc was capable of growing world class wines, the Guibert family of Mas de Daumas Gassac has now produced a half-way house between their cheerful basic and their 'Grand Vin'. Made from a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 30% Merlot and 10% Grenache grapes selected from old vines (35-40+ years old) on a Jurassic limestone hillside. The wine is not aged in oak casks but in stainless steel tanks which preserve every inch of the rich Cabernet aromas and vigorous plum skin flavours. Lively but sophisticated.
