If you are familiar with the name Barbadillo that is probably from their renown as one of the great Sherry houses of Spain. Being based in Sanlucar de Barrameda, Manzanilla is their forte. Their new departure is Quadis, and this their barrel aghed version, ancient name of the city of Cádiz. This is a rich blend of Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Syrah y Tintilla de Rota. Bodegas Barbadillo have been pioneers in the making of red wines in the south of Spain and in recovering an almost extinct grape variety, Tintilla de Rota. Aged for 11 months in oak casks it has vanilla and black fruit aromas, and a wonderfully intense colour. The wine is a perfect accompaniment to tapas and appetizers such as Iberian ham, cheese, nuts, olives, caviar canapés, salmon, sautéed, piquillo peppers and its intense flavour stand up well to dishes such as char-grilled meats, beef stews, chicken curry or sautéed vegetables.
