From late spring, this striking variety of Bugle produces violet blue flower spikes against a thick mat of shimmering, liquorice black foliage, which becomes darker when grown in full sun. This perennial plant is more sun tolerant than many other varieties. Attract pollinating insects to your wildlife garden by growing Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' as ground cover, or alternatively use at the front of borders or creeping through rockeries.
