Louis Cartier created the Santos watch in 1904, sealing his friendship with the aviator of the same name. The famous aviator's wish was granted: he could check the time while flying. The rounded angles and exposed screws of the dial made this an iconic timepiece. Cartier marked the centenary of the watch with a steel version.Steel case, steel octagonal crown set with a faceted synthetic spinel, sapphire crystal, silvered opaline dial, Roman numerals, luminescent sword-shaped black oxidised-steel hands, alligator-skin strap, specific Santos 100 steel double adjustable deployant buckle, mechanical movement with self-winding Cartier calibre 049, water-resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet.
