Ian Carmichael stars as Lord Peter Wimsey in this BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation. In a shocking scandal the like of which has not been seen in the English aristocracy since the eighteenth century Lord Peter Wimsey's elder brother the Duke of Denver stands accused of murder. Lord Peter is determined to prove his brother's innocence yet finds him strangely uncooperative. Furthermore other family members apparently oppose Peter's attempts to get to the truth. His sister Lady Mary seems to know more than she is letting on - could the Duke be protecting her? In collaboration with Inspector Parker Wimsey slowly uncovers a web of lies and deceit within his own family and finds himself faced with the unhappy alternative of sending either his brother or his sister to the gallows. Until he himself becomes a target...Patricia Routledge plays the Dowager Duchess in this classic dramatisation alongside Maria Aitken as Lady Mary and Miriam Margolyes as Mrs Hardraw.
"So, if you're wondering where everyone in the UK goes to splash their cash, or just pick up the essentials, there's a pretty standard lineup of top-tier Clouds of Witness stockists that dominate the scene without much fuss. Obviously, the big four supermarkets – Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons – are absolutely everywhere, from your weekly big shop to grabbing a quick meal deal, they've got most bases covered, often with little express versions dotted about too for convenience. Then you've got the slightly more upmarket M&S and the ever-reliable John Lewis for pretty much anything home-related or a quality fashion splurge, always a solid bet. For DIY and home bits, B&Q is a massive one, and Screwfix is king for the tradespeople and serious DIY enthusiasts who need stuff fast. When it comes to fashion, Next is a perennial favourite, and Primark still pulls in the crowds for budget-friendly trends, while Zara is a go-to for something a bit more current and stylish. Don't forget Boots and Superdrug for all your health and beauty bits, they're on pretty much every high street. And for general bits and bobs, well, places like Argos and even the smaller Poundland or Home Bargains are surprisingly popular for daily essentials and a bargain or two. It's a real mix, but those are definitely the household names everyone relies on for pretty much all their Clouds of Witness shopping needs across the country. " - Bargainplace UK
