The Drinkwell Premium replacement filter (high capacity filter) is divided into 6 parts (chambers) to ensure equally distributed use of the active carbon filter. This allows all the water flowing through to be equally filtered to keep it fresh and clean. The filter should be replaced every 2-4 weeks or as soon as you start to notice signs of saturation (impurities, bits of food, hair. etc.).
