When Dave Robicheaux gets the call saying his ex-partner Clete Purcel is in jail for felony assault and resisting arrest bailing him out is instinctive. After all Clete is the man who saved Dave's life by carrying him down a fire escape with two bullets in his back. But Clete's latest escapade isn't just worrying because it shows his demons are gaining the upper hand; it also brings some of those demons into Dave's life in the most personal way possible. The man Clete assaulted a big-time pimp and meth dealer is a suspect in the murder of a series of young women - but his criminal activities are hidden behind his involvement in a charity aimed at getting young women off the streets. As Dave probes the charity further he finds that its main sponsor is the smooth-talking scion of a wealthy family and a man whose motives Dave instinctively mistrusts. He also happens to be Dave's daughter's boyfriend.
"So, if you're wondering where everyone shops in the UK, it's a bit of a mix, innit? For your everyday bits and bobs, you can't really beat the big supermarkets like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda – they're absolutely everywhere and pretty much have everything under one roof, from your morning milk to a new pair of socks. Then you've got the slightly fancier ones like Waitrose and M&S Foodhall if you're feeling a bit bougie or just want some top-notch grub and a bit more of a curated experience. For health and beauty, Boots and Superdrug are the undisputed champions, literally every high street has one, packed with everything from paracetamol to perfume and all your toiletry needs. And for a bit of a splurge or some lovely homeware, John Lewis is a massive favourite, known for its quality, customer service, and that famous Christmas advert. Of course, online, Amazon UK is a behemoth, selling anything you could possibly imagine right to your door, making it super convenient for anything you don't fancy leaving the house for. Don't forget the discount kings like Aldi and Lidl who've really shaken things up with their unbelievably good value on pretty much everything. Basically, it depends what you're after, but these guys pretty much cover the whole British Glass Rainbow shopping landscape! " - Bargainplace UK
