If you have a passion for Asian food, but don't know your cardamom from your cumin or your galangal from your garam masala, then this cookery course is ideal for you. You can try one of three different styles of Asian food; Thai, Indian or Sushi. The classes are designed to give people the confidence to work with the different herbs and spices usually associated with Asian cuisine and extend their range and knowledge of making everyday Asian food, with an emphasis on healthy eating and food awareness. Classes are kept small, giving you the opportunity to have hands on experience in a relaxed and fun atmosphere with lots of tips on general cooking and one to one time with the chef. The experience begins with a comprehensive spice trail which looks at the various herbs and spices used in cooking and their medicinal values and properties to be able to understand why certain food groups work with others. You will then roll up your sleeves and try your hand at preparing starters and canapés and making a number of main dishes throughout the class. If you choose to learn Sushi making, your experience will start by watching a demonstration given by your chef and tutor, before you go on to have a go yourself. When the course is finished you will sit down with your fellow classmates to enjoy an informal lunch of what you have just made, accompanied by a glass of wine, where you can discuss your new found culinary skills.
