To eat the fruit of the lotus is to lose the desire to return home. But everyone who does has a reason. Shepherd's Bar is a focal point for a group of expatriates living in and around a small town on the island of Crete. The bar is owned and run by reformed alcoholic Erik Shepherd (Ian Hendry). For Erik temptation is never far away, and his faltering marriage to Ann (Wanda Ventham) provides solace. The arrival of Englishman Donald Culley (James Kerry) causes something of a stir. Culley is charming, handsome and by his generosity he quickly wins over other members of the little community. But Culley knows that the long-suffering Ann has a secret of her own, a secret that could prove far more destructive than Erik's drinking... Never before available on DVD, this classic series is a collection of nine self-contained plays, each telling the story of a different member of the community. Each story is skilfully woven into the continuing sub-plot about the deteriorating relationship between the mysterious Erik and Ann Shepherd. "Alright, so if you're wondering where most people in the UK are doing their Lotus Eaters - Complete Series 1 (DVD) shopping, it's a pretty eclectic mix, but some names just dominate! Obviously, the big supermarket giants like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda are absolute behemoths; you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't frequent one of those for their weekly groceries and a whole load of other household bits and bobs. Moving beyond food, John Lewis and Next are massive for fashion and homeware if you're looking for something a bit more premium, whilst M&S cleverly straddles both the food and clothing aisles, always bustling. For all your health and beauty essentials, Boots and Superdrug are practically institutions on every high street, and you can always count on them. Online, well, Amazon UK is just gargantuan, isn't it? You can literally buy anything from a pin to an elephant there. Don't forget Argos for quick pick-ups of everything from tech to toys, and Currys for all your electrical needs. Even places like B&Q and Screwfix are huge for the DIY and trade crowds. It just goes to show how varied and ingrained these names are in the fabric of British retail! " - Bargainplace UK
