Starring Oliver Tobias, James Condon, Helen Morse and Elizabeth Crosby, and produced by Tony Essex (Follyfoot), Luke's Kingdom is an epic adventure series set in Australia during the early nineteenth century. Filmed entirely on location, it is a tale of pioneering and achievement against bitter odds, in which a family struggles to carve out an existence in a land more dangerous and more brutal than the West at its wildest. Amongst its directors are fan-favourite Peter Hammond (The Avengers) and the award-winning Peter Weir (Picnic at Hanging Rock). 1829: Jason Firbeck, a retired naval lieutenant recently widowed, takes sons Samuel and Luke and daughter Jassy to New South Wales to claim land bequeathed to them by a wealthy friend. A strange new world greets the Yorkshire family. Amid redcoated soldiery, yellow-jacketed convicts and a tanned peasantry governed by a wealthy elite, the Firbecks equip themselves with arms and supplies, and set off across the sweltering plains; the hardships and hazards they face confirm Luke's resolve to become the leader of his family of pioneers. "Alright, so if you're wondering about the big hitters in UK retail, the ones everyone seems to flock to, it's a pretty diverse mix! For your everyday essentials, the major supermarkets like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda are absolutely massive, always packed with people grabbing their groceries and a whole load more, often including clothes and homeware now too. Then you've got the clothing and homeware giants – think M&S for quality bits and bobs, or Next for pretty much everything, from a new outfit to furniture, they're both consistently popular. John Lewis remains a beloved spot for a more premium experience, especially around sale time, and is a firm favourite for many for electronics and home goods. And let's not forget the online heavyweights; Amazon UK is, of course, everywhere, and for fashion, ASOS is a huge go-to for countless people. For anything DIY or home improvement, places like B&Q and Wickes are consistently swamped. Basically, the UK's high streets and online world are dominated by a solid set of familiar names that keep us all well-stocked, proving their popularity year after year! " - Bargainplace UK
