Relive D-Day and learn or re-learn everything you want and need to know about the events, which defined our Western world! You will spend this unforgettable day with your guide who has been trained by the historians of the unique Memorial de Caen museum. The excursion starts with a guided tour of the World War II section of the Memorial de Caen Museum. Here, you will go on an historical journey, which will enable you to understand the context of D-Day: the events, which lead up to it and its aftermath. You will pause for a delicious 3-course lunch at the lovely La Terrasse Restaurant during which you can continue to quiz your guide on all the D-Day questions you can think of. In the afternoon you will tour the key D-Day sites in a luxury, air-conditioned minivan. You will be shown the Arromanches Mulberry harbor where the Allied forces managed the amazing feat of landing hundreds of vehicles and tons of weapons and materials. You will visit the American Cemetery at Colleville sur Mer, which is such a stark reminder of the sacrifice made by thousands for our freedom. You will learn about the amazing US Army Ranger Assault Group's attack at the Pointe du Hoc and also drive past the main landing beaches as Omaha Beach and set foot on one yourself! The day begins and ends at Caen train station.
