The legendary Crossmax goes carbon - NewGiven the higher price tag a Cross Country carbon wheel is only really worth the investment if it offers significant improvement over the best aluminum wheel. And feedback from racers tells us it often doesn’t thanks to poor performance in vertical compliance which translates into difficult steering and loss of traction.Dynamic and predictableFull carbon rim offers great lateral stiffnessEnhanced fiber lacing gives maximum vertical complianceThe two-cross spoke pattern on the front and rear offers comfort and controlQuick and nimble1470g only in 27.5" Superliht full carbon rim with hookless profile and UST Tubeless compatibilityOptimized wheel-tyre interface for XC racing23mm internal width (28mm outside) perfectly compliment 2.1 to 2.25" tyresHookless rim profile reduces tyre burps and add strengthPulse Pro tires with X-mix dual compound rolls fast on every surfaceWeightPair 650b/275" without tyre: 1470 gramsFront 650b/275" without tyre: 680 gramsRear 650b/275" without tyre: 790 gramsSo when we engineered the Crossmax Pro Carbon our goal was to make it significantly lighter than any aluminum wheel but also laterally stiffer still as impact resistant and with a decent vertical compliance. To achieve this we pushed our exclusive Finite Element Simulation software to the limit to find a carbon lay up that would best balance light weight impact resistance lateral stiffness and vertical compliance in the rim.Hookless rims for compatibilityWe wanted the wheel to work with the most commonly used XC tire width (2.1 to 2.25) so we established that a 23mm hookless rim profile would deliver the best performance. It’s fully UST Tubeless compliant for improved traction flat resistance and ease of use. And we’ve sealed the rim with a specifically designed rim tape.Asymmetric rimsOur unique Mavic wheelsystem allowed us to fine-tune the lacing to better complement the rim characteristics. Firstly we made the rim asymmetric to better balance spoke tension and we also decided to use 24 double butted steel spokes crossed three on both sides front and rear to once again find the sweet spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. At only 1470g in 27.5'' the Crossmax Pro Carbon comes in light – but it also answers the needs of our demanding racers as shown by the amazing results of Team BH SR Suntour KMC who have been regularly reaching the podium at world-class race events all season.Set up to suit youThese wheels are available with our light and fast rolling Pulse Pro tires in your choice of 2.1 or 2.25 in both 27.5 and 29''.
