Poldark Series 1-2 (DVD) Stockists

All 18 episodes from the first two series of the BBC drama starring Aidan Turner as Captain Ross Poldark. Upon returning to Cornwall after fighting in the American War of Independence, Poldark must rebuild his life following the death of his father with his estate in ruins and his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth (Heida Reed) engaged to his cousin Francis (Kyle Soller), after hearing premature reports of his death. With the help of his new maid Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson), Ross attempts to navigate the hostile, poverty-stricken locals and the region's wealthy and influential businessmen to reopen his family's disused copper mine, Wheal Leisure. Synopsis There have been many British period pieces on television, but Poldark may be the most beloved of all. This costume drama, set in the 18th Century, was based on the Poldark novels by Winston Graham and illustrated the life and loves of Captain Ross Poldark, an aristocrat returning back to his home in Cornwall after fighting in America's War for Independence. The largely socio-economic message of Poldark speaks about unjust contrasts between the poor and the wealthy, and Poldark is often seen at odds with members of his own class. This outstanding series was lauded for having remarkable outdoor sequences and superior acting. Above all, Poldark is a lively, engaging historical drama. --This text refers to the Blu-ray edition.
