The Santa Cruz Nomad gets a complete redesign for the new season, bringing in a lower link-mounted shock (akin to the V10 linkage system) alongside a whole new geometry. This new suspension configuration creates a shock rate that’s both supportive & progressive, perfect for rough terrain. It also plays well with coil shocks, adding to the depth and dimension of the Nomad’s ride characteristics and range of tunability. Tweaks to the geometry ensure that the Nomad 4.0 stays on the fine-line between flat-out DH & a bike that’s still a load of fun out on the trails. The flip-chip on the lower link provides two riding settings, the higher setting delivering added versatility, while the lower setting slackening things further out to near DH levels. A pedal-friendly 74.5-degree seat tube angle alongside it’s longer & lower-slung base lead to a ride that maximises stability & confidence on just about everything. In the process of redefining the Nomad, Santa Cruz have spent a fair bit of time on the bike’s details. Bolt-on downtube protectors and shuttle guards ward off any wayward rocks and the sandpaper effect of tailgate transport. An integrated fender helps keep crud out of the suspension, which is still backed with lifetime warranty. Images are for Illustrative purposes only. Santa Cruz Nomad 2018 Features Lower-link mounted shock configuration takes inspiration from the V10 to create a ride that pushes the boundaries of how DH a bike can be without sacrificing its trail riding capabilities. Near linear shock rate delivers feather-light small bump sensitivity right off the bat, a supportive midstroke & overall progression that’s typically found on a fully-fledged DH rig. Flip-Chip on the lower link allows you to adapt to how you want to ride: Higher setting – “Regular” riding mode, delivering additional versatility for all round performance Lower setting – The Low setting is closer to DH status, slackening things further out for flat out confidence on the descents It’s all in the details – Bolt-on downtube protectors + shuttle guards which are replaceable & an integrated shock fender all help make your time with the Nomad that extra bit more enjoyable.
