The Specialized Roubaix Comp Road Bike 2017 revolutionises the way you ride the roads, with a genre defining design that can tame the wildest tarmac without any extra effort. The frame is the lightest that Specialized have ever made, constructed from a FACT 10r carbon fibre, delivering stiffness levels off the charts. Features a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry that doesn’t compromise on the classic Roubaix fit, feel and riding position that became so well established with the SL4. To soften the resonant impact that travels from the rear wheel to the saddle and to keep the seat height consistent, Specialized implemented a CG-R seatpost paired with the new Drop Clamp. Providing 20 degrees of rearward arc compliance without decoupling the rear end of the bike. Future Shock technology is a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel, developed to bring drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Moving focus away from fork splay towards vertical compliance led to major improvements to smoothness, speed, fatigue reduction and comfort in one fell swoop. The Specialized Roubaix Comp 2017 outperforms anything else in its price range, spec’d with awesome components like Shimano Ultegra/105 11-speed shifting, hydraulic disc brakes, and ultra-tough DT R460 Disc wheels. Specialized Roubaix Comp 2017 Features Featuring a Rider-First Engineered™ design that ensures every frame size has the same legendary responsiveness and smooth ride quality that you'd expect from a Roubaix. The FACT 10r frameset is exceptional in every way, offering the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness. Meanwhile, the all-new Future Shock suspension system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control. A Roubaix Disc fork is built from our top-end FACT 11r carbon fiber for supreme stiffness, strength, and reactivity, while a thru-axle design only stands to bolster all of the above. This Praxis Zayante 50/34T crankset is perfect for tackling steep grades and rough roads. Future Shock – Not all compliance is created Equal When it comes to compliance, you go two ways – Splay or Axial compliance. The Roubaix takes a new approach, providing a smoother ride via a suspension unit above the head tube. The Future Shock features up to 20mm of travel, and it’s positioned above the head tube in order to move in a vertical path. So when the front wheel encounters rough terrain, the bike moves up towards your hands and preserves your forward momentum without slowing you down. Another key factor is that, because the Future Shock is positioned above the stem, the bike’s wheels are held together rigidly by the frame. In other words, because the wheelbase isn’t changing throughout the suspension’s travel, like with traditional systems, you get the added benefit of extremely predictable handling. https://youtu.be/LOO5cdOQx0s Video displaying how the Future Shock works when put under compression. Designed to move the bike towards your hands, preserving your forward momentum without slowing you down, while also getting the added benefit of extremely predictable handling.
