The Specialized SWorks Ruby eTap Road Bike 2017 takes the smoother is faster philosophy to all new heights, offering an unwavering level of comfort and efficiency over rough tarmac and cobbles. The frame is the lightest that Specialized have ever made, constructed from a top-end FACT 11r carbon fibre, producing off the chart levels of stiffness. Features a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry that doesn’t compromise on the classic Ruby fit, feel and riding position that became so well established with the SL4's Women's Endurance Geometry. Features a SWAT tool storage solution that bolts between the down and seat tubes, providing a sleek and compact compartment for any necessities. To soften the resonant impact that travels from the rear wheel to the saddle and to keep the seat height consistent, Specialized implemented a CG-R seatpost paired with the new Drop Clamp. Providing 20 degrees of rearward arc compliance without decoupling the rear end of the bike. Future Shock technology is a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel, developed to bring drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Moving focus away from fork splay towards vertical compliance led to major improvements to smoothness, speed, fatigue reduction and comfort in one fell swoop. Specialized SWorks Ruby eTap 2017 Features The S-Works FACT 11r frameset is our highest quality carbon frame, offering the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness, while the all-new Future Shock suspension system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control. An S-Works Ruby Disc fork is built from our top-end FACT 11r carbon fibre for supreme stiffness, strength, and reactivity, while a thru-axle design only stands to bolster all of the above. SRAM Red® eTap 11-speed shifters provide a glimpse into the future of shifting, and double as brake levers for the SRAM Red hydraulic disc brakes. They communicate wirelessly with the front and rear derailleurs for a ground-breaking level of performance, while offering new, intuitive shift capabilities. Future Shock – Not all compliance is created Equal When it comes to compliance, you go two ways – Splay or Axial compliance. The Ruby takes a new approach, providing a smoother ride via a suspension unit above the head tube. The Future Shock features up to 20mm of travel, and it’s positioned above the head tube in order to move in a vertical path. So when the front wheel encounters rough terrain, the bike moves up towards your hands and preserves your forward momentum without slowing you down. Another key factor is that, because the Future Shock is positioned above the stem, the bike’s wheels are held together rigidly by the frame. In other words, because the wheelbase isn’t changing throughout the suspension’s travel, like with traditional systems, you get the added benefit of extremely predictable handling. https://youtu.be/LOO5cdOQx0s Video displaying how the Future Shock works when put under compression. Designed to move the bike towards your hands, preserving your forward momentum without slowing you down, while also getting the added benefit of extremely predictable handling.
