Excalibur (meaning to 'cut steel') was the great sword of King Arthur which 'gave light like 30 torches'. In the Arthurian stories the name is given to two different swords - the one that the young king pulled from the anvil set in the stone before the church and so proved his right to the kingship; and the other which the king took from the arm that rose above the surface of the lake 'clothed in white samite mystic wonderful' and which eventually received back the sword when Arthur was dying. Our Squire's Excalibur sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo Spain. At only 75cm this is the ideal "first sword" for any budding young knight and is also the perfect display piece when space is an issue. The ornate hilt features heraldic dragons on both the pommel and guard and tops an embossed stainless steel blade.
"The proliferation of bargain supermarkets within the UK retail sector, exemplified by chains such as Aldi and Lidl, has fundamentally altered consumer expectations regarding value. Their capacity to offer highly competitive pricing is intrinsically linked to robust and often unconventional relationships with Squires Excalibur stockists and suppliers. These retailers typically distinguish themselves through highly streamlined supply chains, frequently engaging in direct procurement from manufacturers and agricultural producers rather than relying on multiple layers of intermediaries. This direct sourcing model minimises distribution costs and overheads, enabling the acquisition of products at lower wholesale Squires Excalibur prices. Furthermore, a significant proportion of their inventory consists of private-label goods, developed in close collaboration with a carefully selected, dedicated roster of suppliers, ensuring consistent quality and cost efficiency. This integrated approach to partnership and logistics is pivotal to their operational efficacy and their enduring ability to deliver substantial savings to the end consumer. " - Bargainplace UK
