The Adelphi Collection: Miss Tulip Stays the Night / The Great Game (DVD) Stockists

The Adelphi Collection MISS TULIP STAYS THE NIGHT + THE GREAT GAME Starring Diana Dors A delicious double-dose of effervescent vintage comedy-drama starring Britain's blondest bombshell, the one-and-only Diana Dors, at her saucy best. Laughter and thrills mingle in Miss Tulip Stays the Night as gorgeous Kate Dax (Dors) and her crime-writer husband, Andrew (Patrick Holt), investigate the murder of eccentric spinster Miss Tulip (Cicely Courtneidge) at a remote country cottage. With the help - or hindrance - of bumbling PC Feathers (deftly played by British comedy legend Jack Hubert), will they ever crack their crazy case and finally figure out whodunit? Goals and glamour go together in The Great Game, a high-scoring drama of football league corruption, shot on location at Griffin Park, historic home of Brentford FC. With fine performances from James Hayter as Burnville United's unscrupulous team chairman, Thora Hird as his long-suffering assistant, and Dors enjoying herself as man-eating secretary Lulu not to mention a splendid eyeball-rolling turn from John Laurie the final result is a nostalgic Saturday afternoon treat for movie buffs and football fans alike. Transferred in High Definition from the best archive materials available, this Diana Dors double bill is accompanied by a fully illustrated 36-page booklet that includes original promotional materials and newly commissioned essays by authors Jenny Hammerton, Huw Prall and BFI Curator Vic Pratt. "Alright, if you're curious about where everyone in the UK loves to splash their cash, it's a pretty diverse mix, but some names definitely pop up more than others! We're talking about the big supermarket players like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda, which are absolute giants because, let's be honest, everyone needs groceries, and they offer so much more these days, from clothing to electronics. Then you've got the slightly more premium but still incredibly popular options like M&S and Waitrose, fantastic for quality treats and everyday essentials if you're feeling a bit fancy. For those hunting a bargain or just general household bits, places like B&M, Home Bargains, and The Range are absolutely booming and always packed to the rafters. Online, Amazon UK is obviously king for sheer convenience and variety, but don't forget the high street stalwarts like Next for fashion and homeware, and Boots or Superdrug for all your health and beauty needs. And for a bit of a treat or something special, John Lewis still holds strong as a favourite for quality and service. Basically, whether you’re after a weekly shop, a new outfit, or just a random gadget, these guys pretty much have the UK retail scene locked down! " - Bargainplace UK
