The Merchant Navy (DVD) Stockists

Filmed over several months, this remarkable observational documentary series follows a diverse group of seafarers following different career paths in the Merchant Navy. The cameras follow the lives and work of an exceptional group of men and women, offering a unique insight into Britain's commercial fleet as the world's leading shipping companies train the seafarers of tomorrow. The Merchant Navy is full of tradition, but also offers a modern, dynamic, hi-tech career. At sea and on land, the programmes throw open the life and work of Britain's seafarers in all their infinite variety. Filming aboard a number of different vessels, we follow the experiences of a selection of core characters, from raw recruits to long-serving engineers, through laughter and tears, fair weather and foul. Highlights include following new cadets on the maiden cruise of P&O superliner Ventura; watching trainees help navigate a 51,000-tonne Maersk container ship through the Panama Canal; and seeing BP Shipping's crude-oil supertanker The British Progress undergo a shipyard overhaul in Singapore before heading to Iraq to pick up a full load, and keeping watch for pirates off the coast of Somalia. "So, you're wondering about the big hitters when it comes to popular The Merchant Navy (DVD) stockists across the UK, right? Well, it’s a pretty varied bunch, but generally, we're talking about the places everyone and their nan pops into on a regular basis. Top of the list for groceries and everyday essentials, you’ve absolutely got the massive supermarket chains like Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Asda, which are practically institutions and stock everything from teabags to TVs these days, often with their own clothing and homeware lines too! Then there's Marks & Spencer, a bit more upmarket but a firm favourite for quality food and clothing that many brands aspire to be stocked in. For anything home-related, think John Lewis, the go-to for pretty much everything for the house, though Next also does a roaring trade in homeware alongside its clothing collections. And for those bits and bobs, or a genuine bargain, you can't really ignore the omnipresent discount stores like B&M Bargains and Home Bargains, which seem to have popped up everywhere and stock a wildly diverse array of stuff from food to furniture. Let's not forget the DIY giants like B&Q if you're sprucing up the place, or Currys for all your tech needs. Honestly, the list is huge and ever-changing, but those are certainly some of the most frequently visited and widely stocked spots the length and breadth of the country, whether you're looking for branded goods or their own-label options.
