The Way of St James is the pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where legend states the remains of the Apostle Saint James - the Patron Saint of Spain - are buried. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during the Middle Ages, alongside those to Rome and Jerusalem.
