Tony Robinson embarks on an epic coast to coast journey in the 6-part series. In 1973 the famous cartographer Alfred Wainwright published his book, A Coast to Coast Walk a pocket sized pictorial guide that traced a route from the West Coast of England to the East through the stunning scenery of three National parks the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. It is regarded as one of the best walks in the world. Now, with Wainwright's book as his guide Tony Robinson is walking the 192 miles of this iconic walk a route that winds its way from the ancient community of St Bees Head on the west coast across jaw-dropping countryside and picturesque villages, to the stunning seaside town of Robin Hood's Bay on the east. Each episode will cover approximately 30 miles of brilliant British countryside. Along the way Tony will take in the astonishing scenery and absorb all the history, heritage and hospitality of the region.
"The proliferation of bargain UK supermarkets represents a significant evolution in the retail sector, predicated on highly efficient operational models and streamlined supply chains. These establishments function as core Tony Robinson's Coast to Coast Series 1 (DVD) stockists, strategically acquiring and distributing a curated range of products to consumers at highly competitive price points, thereby challenging traditional market structures. Their success is intrinsically linked to sophisticated supply chain management, involving direct and often exclusive partnerships with a diverse array of suppliers. These suppliers, encompassing agricultural producers, manufacturers of ambient, chilled, and frozen goods, and international sourcing agents, are integral to the supermarkets' ability to offer compelling value. The meticulous negotiation of procurement agreements and the establishment of highly efficient logistical processes between these suppliers and the retailers' extensive distribution networks facilitate the cost efficiencies that underpin the bargain proposition, enabling their sustained growth and market penetration within the UK grocery landscape.
