<p>This New VARILIGHT intelligent dimmer (also known as the JQ Dimmer) is designed to meet the latest European Safety Legislation.</p><p.The 'J' intelligent dimmer is equipped to handle overload situations by stepping down its output to the lamps until the load is reduced, for example if the wattage of the bulbs is accidentally too high.</p><p>The 'J' Intelligent Dimmer has Soft Start Technology which, when the lights are turned on, the brightness level is increased softly, which creates a welcoming effect and extends the life span of the bulbs.</p><p>'J' Intelligent dimmers can be used for mains voltage, low-voltage transformer loads, or control of awkward loads.</p><p>'J' Intelligent Dimmers can be used for mains incandescent GLS lamps (standard mains light bulbs), up to the maximum load as specified on the dimmer. They can also dim GU10 or similar Hi Spot Mains Halogen lamps (only use quality UK supplied lamps) up to the maximum load as specified on dimmer. Good quality dimmable electronic transformers can also be dimmed using this dimmer, please note that noise levels can depend on the quality of the transformer being used.</p><p>If dimming low-voltage lighting we recommend that a maximum of 5 good quality dimmable electronic transformers are used with this product. To specify the load of the dimmer, add up the wattage (or VA) of the transformers and select a dimmer to cover this value. If the Varilight Electronic Transformer is used up to 10 transformers can be used and the power rating of the dimmer is determined by adding the power (watts) of the bulbs, not the transformers.</p><p>The 'J' Intelligent Dimmer can be used for wire-wound low-voltage transformers up to maximum load as specified on dimmer and can also be used on fans and other inductive load appliances, but please check with manufacturer of appliance.</p><p>The 'J' Intelligent Dimmer uses trailing edge technology.</p><p>'J' Intelligent Dimmers can be used in 2-way circuits (where one lighting circuit is controlled from two locations). In order to achieve 2-way switching, they must be paired with a standard 2-way switch in the other location. 3-way switching can be achieved by adding an intermediate switch in to the circuit. When using an 'J' Intelligent Dimmer in a 2 or 3-way circuit the lights can only be dimmed from the location that the dimmer is situated in.
