This large size gives the user plenty of scope in the type and scale of objects they can print. Fast printing The da Vinci 2.0 uses FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) to print its models. FFF delivers fast results compared to other technologies. The filament is the ABS plastic material used to print an object (as ink would be in an inkjet printer) and is pumped through a tube to the print nozzle, or extruder, which then ejects the filament onto the printing platform. The model is built by successive layers of plastic being bonded to the layer beneath it. In this way the object is gradually built up with the process taking around an hour for simple shapes though more complex designs will take longer depending on the resolution used. The da Vinci 2.0 has four resolution settings ranging from 100 microns (the finest) to 400 microns (the lowest resolution but the fastest to print). The resolution can be easily changed by the user when required depending on the object being printed.
