Shortly before his 44th birthday John Diamond received a call from the doctor who had removed a lump from his neck. Having been assured for the previous 2 years that this was a benign cyst Diamond was told that it was in fact cancerous. Suddenly this man who'd until this point been one of the world's greatest hypochondriacs was genuinely faced with mortality. And what he saw scared the wits out of him. Out of necessity he wrote about his feelings in his TIMES column and the response was staggering. Mailbag followed Diamond's story of life with and without a lump - the humiliations the ridiculous bits the funny bits the tearful bits. It's compelling profound witty in the mould of THE DIVING BELL & THE BUTTERFLY.

"Alright, if you're curious about the most popular C stockists in the UK, it's a bit of a jungle out there, but some names just dominate, don't they? For pretty much everything under the sun, especially groceries, the big hitters like Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons are absolutely everywhere and always buzzing. Then you've got Marks & Spencer for those slightly fancier food bits or reliable clothing, and Next is huge for fashion and homeware, along with the ever-popular John Lewis for a bit more of an upscale experience. For your health and beauty essentials, Boots and Superdrug seem to be on every high street corner, packed with options. And we can't forget budget powerhouses like Primark, which is just ridiculously popular for cheap and cheerful fashion, or the DIY giants like B&Q when you’re tackling home improvements. Oh, and obviously, online, Amazon UK is just an absolute beast, isn't it? Basically, the UK's retail landscape is super diverse, catering to every budget and need imaginable. " - Bargainplace UK
